I Have a Coach

Winter 2016 Private Clinic w/ Stephy Schwartz Coaching me through a down hill shit hook!

This has been one of the hardest lines for me to say. It was only about three weeks in to starting my business that I realized that I have no idea what I am doing. Yes I have done the schooling, Yes I can get people the results but how do I the business side of things to really make my dream a business. I worked at if for a few weeks and I realized that if I was going to do this I was going to need help. Not that I couldn’t do it myself, there is a ton of free content out there if you know where to look. But I decided that I could move faster if I had someone to show me the way. So let’s get real for a sec here asking for help is one of the hardest things for me to do. I am very self sufficient and like to do things the hard way….I mean on my own. It is the way I was brought up. My dad was very proud and never asked for help with anything, so this was a skill I had to learn on my own.

When I first started to learn to ask for help in was in the way of clinics. The first area was a barrel racing clinic. I had been working with my horse Snip for a few months but felt a few things were missing and I didn’t know what to do next. So I attended a 3 day clinic and it completely transformed my riding and I came out with a ton of tools to use at home. Tools that I still use to this day with my colts. Yes I still had to go home and put in the work and practice but now I had the knowledge as well. My next big life transformation with hiring a coach was backcountry sledding. I decided that I was going to learn how to backcountry sled and nothing was going to stand in my way. I went out bought the machine, the gear and had my husband and a good friend to ride with now all I needed was throttle time. Right! Well I got a lot of throttle time but I just wasn’t getting it. I would ask the guys “what am I doing wrong” and all they would say is “Just pin it”. Well “Just pin” it wasn't working for this girl. I had heard about these all girls riding clinics and thought to myself if I am going to learn this sport this is where it is going to happen. So I signed up and took the clinic. With in half a day these girls had me pulling off maneuvers that the boys tried to teach for months. By the end of the weekend I was a completely different rider. I now try to do a attend or do private lessons for a weekend each season to help push me and my skills. When we ride with the same people it is easy to stay in our comfort zones where we are safe. This is can happen in all areas of our lives.

When I looked back at how far I had come in all the other areas of my life it was easy to see that it was time to hire a coach. Someone who could keep me on track and moving forward. This website is the first big project I have completed with my coach. It crazy to think a project I have been working on for three years was completed with in the first 4 weeks of having someone keep me accountable. She has helped me in so many area that I didn’t even know I needed help in. So look back at your life and the area’s your struggling with is it time for you to start asking for help. It doesn’t always have to be hiring a coach. It could be asking a friend or find a group on facebook or following someone on IG who is teaching what you want to learn.
